Public consultation to finalize the manual on Europen Common path standards for the Via Francigena

The European Association of the Via Francigena is launching a public consultation open to all public and private organizations as well as experts involved in the enhancement of the Via Francigena in England, Switzerland, France and Italy, in order to collect remarks and eventual suggestions on quality standards along the Via.

The Manual on European common path standards of the Via Francigena aims at setting out quality standards for a safe and accessible route.

The Manual is the outcome of the joint work of the European Regions adhering at the European Committee for technical interregional coordination, in cooperation with national and local associations involved in maintenance and enhancement actiivties of the European route. Therefore, the Manual aims at assisting  monitoring activities on the state of play of the path conditions and on the route development on a long term.

This Manual integrates some parts of the guidelines produced in the framework of the intrregional project “Via Francigena” in 2009. It sets out the necessary quality standars for delivering a safe and accessible route, while providing scope for local flexibility on how the required standards are achieved, in compliance with national and local laws.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION:

The Manual will be finalized and diffused on June 2016.
