Via Francigena: special mention at the European Culture Brand Award

The European Association of the Via Francigena ways EAVF received special mention at the European Culture Brand Award in the category “European Cultural Tourism Region of the Year 2020”.

The 15th European Culture Brand Award took place on 26 November 2020 as a digital event from the Great Hall of the Nikolaisaal Potsdam. The award was conducted by Causales, a leading German agency for cultural marketing and sponsorship.

Within this year’s contest 112 competition entries were submitted. Within the innovative, virtual TV format, awards were given for cultural-political attitudes, innovative programming, identity-based brand development and sustainability, among other things. The event was opened by the patroness Michelle Müntefering, Minister of State for International Cultural Policy at the Federal Foreign Office.

The Via Francigena, European cultural route, which crosses regions in England, France, Switzerland and Italy, is praised for its sustainable tourism development. The route, building on the authentic experience, slow travel and cultural discovery, represents an outstanding example of a European cultural brand.
