The deadline for participation in the literary prize “Intanto Parto … tales and prose on the road” has been extended. The entries may be sent in until 18th November 2018 (the first deadline was 15th October 2018).

Now in its second edition, the literary prize, promoted and conceived by the Betti publishing company, is dedicated to unpublished stories by authors, both newcomers and non, who can narrate their journey along the Via Francigena and the Cammini. In addition to the over 25 group, this year special attention has been paid to the younger audience, redefining participation according to age: a section is aimed at “under 25s” – young men and women born after 1st January 1993.

After the many expressions of interest that emerged in recent months, we thought it appropriate to allow participants an extra month to send stories about their journies and the sense of said journies until midnight of the 18th November. Send stories to premiofrancigena@betti.it or by post, in a sealed envelope, to Betti Editrice at Strada delle Torri Cimate, 53035 Monteriggioni (SI), according to the procedures indicated on the announcement “explain organisers.

In the under 25 section, the students who attend high school and who will present the declaration of exemption do not have to pay the registration fee. For each of the two categories 10 stories will be selected, which will then be published in two collections by Betti Editrice, distributed and promoted nationally.

The award ceremonies will be held in Monteriggioni (SI) and Pontremoli (MS) at the beginning of 2019, on a date to be defined. Additional prizes for special mentions will be announced in the coming months.

The European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF) and the Tuscany Region are the main partners of the second edition of the award, the leading municipalities of the Via Francigena in Tuscany have also contributed to the project (Pontremoli, Lucca, Fucecchio, Siena), representing all 39 municipalities, as well as the administrations of Pontremoli and Monteriggioni that will respectively host the award ceremonies. Among the partnerships activated is the important collaboration with the Institute of Italian Culture in Krakow, which will present the award ceremonies in addition to the activities put in place with associations and local authorities, including the Tuscan Association of Via Francigena Ways.
