A walking weekend along the Via Francigena to support Campi di Norcia and the areas hit by the earthquake.

This is the initiative launched by Maurizio Ornella and Federica Caracciolo for the weekend of the 17th and 18th March along the Lombard tract from Santa Cristina to Orio Litta. After the success of the “Cammino della solidarietà” from Norcia to Leonessa last April, the pilgrims will return with “Sosteniamo back to Campi camminando” (Supporting Campi on foot) to promote the “Back to Campi” project, realised to relaunch the small village of Norcia, which was hit hard by the earthquake.

Participating in the event will be the president of Pro Loco Campi di Norcia, Roberto Sbriccoli, working towards the promotion of the project (watch the video). The weekend will begin on Saturday 17th March at 10:30 with a 17 km walk from the train station of S. Cristina, to Bissone and then to Orio Litta in the piazza dei Benedetti. We will spend the night (sleeping bag necessary) at the Orio Litta hostel, 5 euros per person, including dinner, breakfast and Sunday lunch. There are just 30 places available in the hostel, but 30 more may sleep on the floor on a mat.

Departure will be at 9:30 on Sunday 18th March from the hostel, the route is an 8 km circular walk in the neighbouring countryside. At 15 in the afternoon, in the municipal hall of Orio Litta will be a meeting will Roberto Sbriccoli for the presentation of the “Back to Campi” project as well as the possibility of offerings on a voluntary basis.

“Following the lovely experience of “Cammino della solidarietà” for the earthquake zones and all the events connected to it, Federica Caracciolo and myself thought to bring a new initiative to life, to support the Back to Campi project – explains the organiser of the event on the Facebook page – During the weekend of the 17th-18th March we will find ourselves in a moment of community and solidarity. We will walk along the Via Francigena to discover the territory and will present the project to support Campi di Norcia. If we can’t find you at the hostel, we’ll see you on route.”
