Our autumnal appointment with #SienaFrancigena returns once more: travelling along the urban tract of the ‘Via dei Pellegrini‘.  The appointment to discover the places and stories of the city is planned for Sunday 3rd September and will proceed until the 15th October

For this occasion it will be possible to wear the clothes of ancient pilgrims and to participate on foot from Porta Camollia to Porta Romana, passing by Santa Maria della Scala, one of the most ancient hospitals of Europe and symbol of hospitality and care since the Middle Ages.

#Siena Francigena: the legs of the route.  The routes, departing at 9:30am from Porta Camollia, foresees 10 legs to the discovery of stories and anecdotes following the footsteps of ancient pilgrims that, as far back as the Middle Ages, stopped in Siena on their journey to the Holy City.  The participants, accompanied by an expert guide, will continue towards San Pietro alla Magione, the casa dei Templari, to the Cavalieri di Malta, to then proceed along the Banchi di Sopra until reaching Piazza Duomo and Santa Maria della Scala.  For the first time #SienaFrancigena will be an experience of augmented reality, thanks to the use of the video guide which will accompany the visitors along the route, with the 3D video map of inside the ancient hospital of Siena.  To recover from the walk there is also a delicious meal planned with the “Pilgrim’s Pouch“: the packed lunch will include a sandwich with Tuscan cold cuts, a drink of choice between a soft drink and a glass of artisanal beer of Santa Maria della Scala and a IGP ricciarello of Siena.  The trek will end at Porta Romana.

#SienaFrancigena is a project of the Assessorato al turismo del Comune di Siena and takes place every Sunday, from the 3rd September to the 15th October, starting at 9:30 from Porta Camilla.  The route lasts around 3 hours and 4km.  The cost of the ticket, guide included, as well as the entrance to Santa Maria della Scala and the “Pilgrim’s Pouch” is 20 euros and 10 euros for children up to 11 years of age.  To book contact 347 6137678 or 348 0216972, or contact us via email at sienasms@c-way.it.  The event is guaranteed, regardless of the number of participants.
