Giardino di Ninfa

Giardino di Ninfa

The name Ninfa derives from a Roman temple built near the present garden and dedicated to the divinities of spring waters.
In the 8th century it became part of the papal administration and played a strategic role because of the possibility of travelling south avoiding the often swampy Via Appia.
