The European Association of Via Francigena Ways returns to France for its General Assembly. After Champlitte in 2018, the EAVF associates return to France in Besançon (Doubs, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) on 14th June, EAVF municipal member and rest-stop of the route.
The associative assembly will take place after a conference dedicated to “The Via Francigena, enhancement tool for our territories“, organised by the European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF), in collaboration with: Association Champlitte, Patrimoine et Via Francigena, Communauté d’Agglomération du Grand-Besançon, Région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Département du Doubs, in partnership with “Le Pèlerin” magazine.
The conference on Friday 14th June at 9:30, will offer a moment of comparison and sharing of good practices, opportunities, hospitality and animation in the area. The Via Francigena GR®145 is, in fact, on the crossroads to other great routes, such as the Camino de Santiago, the GR®145, l’Échappée Bleue and l’Eurovelo 6. This meeting will also be an opportunity to present updates on the UNESCO dossier and other projects. The initiative will see speeches from local and regional organisations, the world of associationism and various experts. Among these speakers will be representatives for the French Ministry of Culture, Atout France, Pèlerins magazine and the 3 French regions crossed by the Via Francigena (Hauts-de-France, Grand Est et Bourgogne-Franche-Comté).
Another great event happening in Besançon is the outdoor festival “Grandes heures nature“, taking place in the exhibition space at the Metropolis congress of the French town from 13th to 16th June. The EAVF will be in attendance with a stand to get to know the Via Francigena.
