Erasmus+ is the EU Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2021. The Programme is focused to make a major contribution to help tackle socio-economic changes and key challenges in Europe.

The European Association of the Via Francigena ways together with its strategic partners applies for the Erasmus Plus Axe Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices for adult education and capacity building.

This axe is designed to support the potential of Europe’s talent and social assets in a lifelong learning perspective, linking formal, non-formal and informal learning throughout the education and training. The Programme also enhances the opportunities for cooperation and mobility.

The EAVF though its operation branch Francigena Srl (Ltd) has jointly applied to a grant for a project focused on development of training methodology for adults in the sphere of the sustainable development.

The project, led by the Turkish NGO Cultural Routes Society, was prepared thanks to the strategic partnership within the Via Eurasia network – an umbrella organisation uniting routes in Turkey, Albania, North Macedonia, Greece and Italy, including the EAVF.

The project will provide sustainable development training in small disadvantaged villages on the Via Eurasia, with the Francigena Service being an expert partner in cooperation with the Istanbul Boğaziçi University and the Greek organisation Paths of Greece.

Thanks to the network of the European Association of the Via Francigena ways, the Municipality of Champlitte – the EAVF’s field office in France – was also able to apply for their first European call – the Erasmus Plus project focused on increasing capacities of tourism and culture professionals across Europe.

The project, managed by the Galician Foundation of UxioNovo in collaboration with University of Bratislava and other partners, envisages capacity building programme, development of innovative methods of tourism and culture management and exchange of best practices.

The projects have an estimate budget of 200.000 € maximum and a duration of two years.

The EAVF strongly believes in investment in knowledge, skills and competences, which benefit the route’s management on all levels and contribute to economic growth, ensuring equity and prosperity of the territories of the European Via Francigena and beyond.

Both projects were submitted on 23 April, while their results are expected to be announced in September 2020.
