Via Francigena has been nominated for a Cultural Brands Award 2020, a contest coordinated by Causales, a leading agency for cultural marketing and sponsorship in Germany. The Cultural Brands Award, founded in 2006, celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2020. This contest is considered the most important award in the cultural market. A panel of experts comprising 40 judges bestows the award upon winners representing culture services, investors and tourism regions from all over Europe in eight contest categories.
The Via Francigena competes for the award in the category “European Cultural Tourism Region of the Year 2020”. The Via Francigena, European cultural route, which crosses regions in England, France, Switzerland and Italy, is praised for its sustainable tourism product. The route, building on the authentic experience, slow travel and cultural discovery, represents an outstanding example of a cultural brand.
The winners will be announced on 26 November 2020 during the official ceremony at the Schiffbauergasse in Potsdam, attracting more than 700 decision-makers from business, culture and the media from Europe to the Ruhr Metropolitan Region. The prize-giving ceremony is an important industry convention for culture managers, marketers and tourism industry in Europe.
