On 22nd August in Romainmôtier, in the Vaud canton, an informative meeting took place along the Via Francigena for the Routes4U project in the Alpine macro region (EUSALP).

The European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF), beneficiary of the Routes4U mini-grant financed by the European Union, has been conducting work in the Alpine macro-region in which many regions of the Via Francigena are involved: Bourgogne/Franche-Comté; Vaud; Vallese; Valle d’Aosta; Piemonte; Lombardia and Liguria.
The EAVF project is based on the diffusion of a system of governance and “good practices” along the Via in order to incite replicability in the whole macro-region, this would then guarantee the enhancement of the Alpine environment and its values.

The following activities were shared in Romainmotier:

– fitting of informative and touristic signage in four strategic areas in the macro-region crossed by the Via
– inclusion of private entities and economic categories which operate along the Francigena
– development of agreements linked to the official Pilgrim Passport
– inclusion of tour operators for the creation of thematic packages for the Via in the macro-region.
– distribution of informative materials

Panel graphics, flyers and documentation for the project were also presented during the meeting.

The Mayor of Romainmotier and member of the EAVF Executive Board, Fabrice de Icco, made a speech, as well as EAVF staff members: Luca Bruschi, director; Sami Tawfik, project manager and Leslie Maussang, development manager for the Via Francigena in France.

Also present were administrative representatives, tourist information officers, private entities and volunteers of associations of Champlitte, Romainmotier, Yverdon Les Bains, Montreaux, Orbe, Vallorbe, Aigle, Morges, Bex and Lausanne.
