Friday 1st June, “Toscana in Cammino” will take place, the cycle of events organised by the European Association of the Vie Francigene (EAVF) and the region of Tuscany.
The meeting, scheduled for 10am at the Church of San Giovanni Battista (Church of the Autostrada del Sole) in Florence, will explore the theme of “Religion, Volunteering and Hiking along the Tuscan Via Francigena“.
For the occasion, the work on religious hospitality and ecclesiastical heritage on the Francigena Tuscany will be presented “Ad Limina Petri“. The event will also develop a discussion on the role and the activities of associations and volunteers in touristic development.
The meeting will open with the institutional greetings of Don Marco Fagotti, regional manager of the Pastoral Ministry for Tourism, Sport and Leisure; Mons. Andrea Migliavacca, Bishop of San Miniato; Stefano Ciuoffo, Regional Councillor of Production Activities and Tourism of the region of Tuscany; Lucia Baracchini, mayor of Pontremoli and vice president of the European Association of the Vie Francigene; Raffaella Senesi, mayor of Monteriggioni and member of the Executive Board of the European Association of the Vie Francigene; Francesco Gazzetti, regional councillor delegate of the Via Francigena Toscana and Don Domenico Poeta for Ad Limina Petri, will also speak.
The conference will begin at 10am with registration of participants starting at 9:30am. At the end of the meeting, a guided tour of the Church of San Giovanni Battista and buffet will follow.
