On Sunday 9th June the traditional “On the road to Rome along the Via Francigena – last section from La Storta to San Pietro” walk was once again successful, organised by Valorizziamo Veio association.
The event, supported by Municipio Roma XIV and the European Association of Via Francigena Ways (EAVF), saw the participation of around fifty people who hiked the last section of the Francigena towards Rome, walking along the Monte Mario – Monte Ciocci pedestrian/cycle path.
Among those taking part in the walk were some administrators of Municipio XIV, Marco Petrelli for Valorizziamo Vejo, the tireless and passionate Stefano Cardarelli and president of the European Association of Via Francigena Ways, Massimo Tedeschi. The route developed along Parco Lineare from Monte Mario to Monte Ciocci, which runs alongside the FL3 railway for 5km, to end its journey with the memories of Ettore Scola’s film “Brutti, Sporchi e Cattivi”, an amacord of emotion.
Before arriving in San Pietro there was a symbolic ribbon cutting, together with council member of Municipio XIV, Michele Menna: “It’s an occasion to promote and inaugurate a part of the Via, which, as the Assemblea Capitolino di Roma intends, could become a new variant“, explain the organisers.
