The new issue of the magazine “Via Francigena and the European Cultural Routes” is available online. The 48th edition of the bi-annual publication of the European Association of the Via Francigena (EAVF) dedicates the cover to the Church of Saint Michele of Pavia, announcing the special focus of this edition.
The EAVF magazine, published by Studio Guidotti, takes you on a journey through historic and cultural beauties of the Lombard Via Francigena in the province of Lodi and Pavia, introduced by Stefano Bruno Galli, Councilor for Autonomy and Culture of the Lombardy Region. The magazine offers an overview of the route and useful information on hospitality and ferry experience on the river Po.
The EAVF editorial tool, which can be browsed and downloaded free of charge at http://www.rivistaviafrancigena.it/en/ in three languages of the Via Francigena – English, French and Italian – presents the latest news from the European itinerary: local events, partnerships and cooperation, testimonies and stories. The review opens with a report about the EAVF General Assembly from
18 October 2019, which ratified the route of the Via Francigena in the South from Rome to Santa Maria di Leuca.
An increasingly international dimension of the route is highlighted with an article dedicated to the UNESCO World Heritage candidacy, a topic which was also in the center of the conversation between the EAVF president, Massimo Tedeschi and the new Leader of Canterbury City Council, Robert Thomas. Canterbury, the Francigena city, will host the next EAVF General Assembly on 14 May 2020.
An article on the cultural heritage of the Francigena in France is presented by Isabelle Hurdubae from the French Ministry of Culture. Julien Moulin described the new Francigena guide from Canterbury to the Great Saint Bernard Pass which will be published by “Editions Favre“.
The Tuscan Proscutto DOP offers a gastronomic experience while the Parmigiano Reggiano leads travellers with the signs on the historic itinerary. Among other stories in the magazine, there are images of the 2019 edition of “I Love Francigena“, supported by Banca Generali Private; growing collaboration with Decathlon and overview of international projects: from Via Eurasia, the route of the roads, to the “Peregrinus” project in Switzerland – development of sustainable rest stops.
