Mostly following the canal next to the river Marne, Via Francigena gets straight into the Marne Valley.

Here the ponds are kings and testify the exploitation of gravel pits in order to supply the local building sites with raw materials. Once at your destination, take advantage of the many parks or “jards” of the city of Chalons-en-Champagne to relax in peace before visiting the Notre-Dame-en-Vaux collegiate church, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site concerning the Routes of Santiago de Compostela.
