This stage is especially beautiful when the sun shines, thanks to the boundless views from the Val d’Arbia ridges, crossed through endless dirt roads.

Behind us we can admire the skyline of Siena, looming on the hills.
The Grancia di Cuna, an ancient fortified barn, is the main historical attraction of this part. After the Grancia we cross Monteroni d’Arbia and Ponte d’Arbia.

Passed Buonconvento, whose old town center deserves a visit, an uphill stretch begins. We take the provincial road to Montalcino, that we leave to enter the dreamy landscape of Val d’Orcia, along dirt roads leading to Torrenieri.

Hence we cross an asphalted stretch of the disused Cassia road to reach San Quirico, welcoming us with its gorgeous collegiata.

Resting points and water are only available in villages.
