Leg VFS09 – from Martigny to Orsières: closure of Bovernier-Sembrancher section

Following an avalanche between Bovernier and Sembrancher on the Via Francigena in Switzerland, the trail is closed as the passage is dangerous.

The duration of the closure will be published here as soon as possible.

It is essential to avoid walking this very dangerous stretch, which ends in an impassable tunnel!

We strongly advise pilgrims along this section of the Via Francigena in Switzerland to take the train between Bovernier and Sembrancher. Train timetables can be consulted at www.cff.ch.
