Bard is one of the best preserved villages of the Aosta Valley. Bard is one of the best preserved villages of the Aosta Valley, situated in what was a strategic point in the past. Monuments and streets of this tiny centre are living memories of the Antiquity, of the Middle Ages and of the Early Modern period, that have survived time: from the consular road and the monumental houses, to the fort. Until around 10,000 years ago, there was a glacier in the territory surrounding the village, as evidenced by the fact that the area is morphologically characterized by enormous rocky bumps.
Bard, situated on the left bank of Dora Baltea, spreads over a surface of 3 km² and it is part of the Comunità Montana Mont Rose (mountain community of Mont Rose).
